Description
"Cherry Blossom" honors one of the main themes in traditional Japanese art, continuous lifecycle and hope for longevity. The Sakura is the flowering Japanese cherry tree which symbolizes the spring, the transience of things and a bittersweet sadness at their passing. Cherry blossoms are a metaphor for the intensity and fleeting nature of life. The Crane in Japan is one of the mystical or holy creatures, and is said to live for a thousand years. An ancient Japanese legend promises that anyone who folds a thousand origami cranes will be granted a wish by a crane, such as long life or recovery from illness or injury. The Phoenix has a forever repeating 1000-year lifecycle, in the end of which it ignites itself and is reborn from its own ashes. Here it appears as a shadow on the moon, spreading its silver flames over the Crane.
